This is also evidenced in the subject of his two books, “Finding Your Greater Yes!” and “God Loves Do-Overs.” Both titles focus on empowering individuals to make the most of their lives and to get a fresh start when things don’t go as planned.
Dr. Erickson, with his wife Cathy, have also developed the conference series “Maximize Your Marriage” and regularly interact with couples who are seeking to improve their relationships.
What does a corporate
chaplain do?
A corporate chaplain interacts with employees on a completely voluntary basis. Chaplains are available for counseling or simply listening. They can respond to emergencies 24 hours a day.
Chaplains have a proven role in helping employees work through relational conflicts in their marriages or other relationships. They are also a resource for workers struggling with substance abuse, workplace conflict, or anxiety. Since all of these conditions affect employees work lives, a chaplain can help them to become more fulfilled human beings as well as better employees.
There is no equivalent to the friendly, encouraging role that a chaplain can offer to a workplace. In addition to these regular duties, chaplains are available to officiate at funerals, weddings and other important and critical functions in employees’ lives.
How does a chaplain balance faith in the workplace?
A chaplain respects the faith tradition of all employees (including those who have no religious faith). Chaplains strive to meet the holistic needs of workers and do not engage in proselytizing. If employees voluntarily and specifically seek spiritual counsel, the chaplain will engage them on their terms. The chaplain’s primary goal, however, is to be of social support to employees with the end of helping them to become more fulfilled people and workers.
How can a chaplain benefit my workplace?
Chaplains provide a unique blend of social and emotional support to employees. They are a confidential resource to people of all faiths (or no faith), 24 hours a day. They help employees cope with challenges and crises both on and off the job. In doing so, they can boost employee and workplace morale and productivity. They can help to create a happier, healthier workplace.
